Oiamo is a nomadic studio from the city of Rio Grande do Sul officially nominated by the Global Sustainable Association (GSA) committee for the Kyoto Global Design Awards 2023 in the Best 100 category and winner of the Bornancini Design Award in the Economic and Cultural Impact category. The designer Tiago Braga created the brand, who is dedicated to mapping and updating the ancestry memory and energy in communities originating from the Southern Brazil. His ethnographic research is the starting point for exploring the materiality of artisanal processes that are disappearing and natural or recycled raw materials in the methodology he calls Ancestral Design. Mobilizing collectives of women from Rio Grande do Sul in an important border area, with unique characteristics, formed during over three centuries of miscegenation of Iberian peoples in interaction with different indigenous groups, blacks and European immigrants with a great influence from Uruguayan and Argentine templadism.

PAULA SOUSA ATELIÊ
When she decided to close the two physiotherapy clinics she owned in upscale areas of São Paulo, Paula wanted to take a break and enjoy her sabbatical to dedicate herself to a hobby, an immersion in the world of ceramics that immediately captivated her and soon changed her professional trajectory.
Her fascination with the activity led her to set up her own studio to work more intensely and constantly improve the techniques learned at high temperatures, occasionally giving gifts to family and friends.
